Wolf at the Door

Wolf at the Door is a slice-of-life folk horror game blending interactive fiction with resource management. Rather than hinging upon a standard branching path structure, the game’s various endings – and the paths leading to them – are determined as much by what you choose to do day-to-day as by explicit choices given to you in the text. With the Wolf King drawing closer each night, you have only so much time to prepare before he arrives: how you choose to use it is entirely up to you.

The year is 1850. You’ve travelled by train, coach and finally on foot to claim your inheritance: an old stone farmhouse surrounded by some 50 acres of scrubby farmland, forest and riverside marsh. You’ve spent everything you have to get here and it’s up to you to bring the land back into use, sowing crops, collecting materials and trading in town for what you can’t grow or make yourself. But you hadn’t expected the odd looks and furtive whispers of the Oakbridge townsfolk, or the strange marks and gifts left at your doorstep.

A very early demo of Wolf at the Door is currently available (though you may wish to avoid playing it if you’d like to enjoy the final story spoiler-free), with the full game to follow in 2019. It will be released for free online and in downloadable versions for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.
